캐나다한국교육원(원장: 이지은)은 5월 5일 토론토총영사관에서 공주사범대학 교생실습단을 대상으로 TCDSB 교육청 교생 실습 사전 오리엔테이션을 실시하였습니다. 이날 행사에는 국립공주대학교 사범대학 유종열 학장님과 교생실습생 8명이 참석하여 현지 실습 생활과 교육 활동에 필요한 다양한 사항을 함께 공유하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이번 오리엔테이션에서는 교생실습생들이 토론토 현지 환경에 원활히 적응하고 안전하게 생활할 수 있도록 안전 수칙과 유의사항에 대한 안내가 이루어졌습니다. 특히 탁광오 경찰영사님께서 긴급 상황 발생 시 대처 방법과 비상 연락 체계 등 실제 상황에 도움이 되는 내용을 중심으로 설명해 주셨습니다. 이어 이지은 교육원장님께서는 재외교육기관으로서 캐나다한국교육원의 역할과 주요 사업을 소개하셨습니다. 참석자들은 한국어·한국문화 교육 지원 사업을 비롯하여 현지 학교와의 협력 프로그램, 차세대 동포 교육 사업 등 교육원이 추진하고 있는 다양한 활동에 대해 이해하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 또한 교생실습 기간 동안 예비교원으로서 갖추어야 할 자세와 책임, 현지 학교 및 관계 기관과 협력하는 과정에서 유의해야 할 사항 등에 대한 안내도 함께 진행되었습니다. 교생실습단은 이번 오리엔테이션을 통해 현지 교육 환경에 대한 이해를 넓히고, 실습에 대한 기대와 책임감을 다지는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다.

The Korean Education Affairs Section hosted a meeting with eight students from Kongju National University currently participating in a teaching practicum within the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), Dean Jongyeol Yoo of the College of Education at Kongju National University, and three current teachers from TCDSB and TDSB, including Principal Christine Kim. The meeting was organized to help student teachers gain a deeper understanding of the Canadian educational environment and to support their participation in the practicum through communication with experienced local educators. During the meeting, participants discussed differences between the Korean and Canadian education systems and school cultures. Various topics related to the Canadian classroom environment were introduced, including classroom management styles, student-centered learning approaches, and effective communication in multicultural settings. The current teachers also shared practical advice and insights based on their own teaching experiences, while answering questions from the student teachers and offering guidance to help them prepare for their practicum experience.

The Korean Education Affairs Section held an orientation session on May 5 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto for student teachers from Kongju National University who will be participating in the TCDSB teaching practicum program. Dean Jongyeol Yoo of the College of Education at Kongju National University and eight student teachers attended the session, where they shared important information related to their practicum and daily life in Toronto. During the orientation, guidance was provided to help the student teachers adapt to Toronto and stay safe throughout their practicum period. In particular, Consul Kwango Tak introduced practical information on emergency response procedures and emergency contact systems, helping participants prepare for various situations they may encounter while in Toronto. Director Jee-eun Lee also introduced the role of the Korean Education Affairs Section as an overseas educational institution and presented its major programs and initiatives. They learned about the efforts in supporting Korean language and culture education, collaborating with local schools, and promoting educational programs for Korean overseas youth. In addition, the orientation included guidance on the responsibilities and professional conduct expected of student teachers during the practicum, as well as important considerations when working with local schools and related institutions. Through this orientation, the student teachers gained a better understanding of the local educational environment and strengthened their responsibility for the practicum experience.

캐나다한국교육원(원장: 이지은)은 토론토카톨릭교육청에서 교육실습을 진행하고 있는 국립공주대학교 학생 8명과 국립공주대학교 사범대학 유종열 학장, 그리고 토론토카톨릭교육청 소속 현직 교사 3명(김지은 교장 등)이 함께하는 간담회를 개최하였습니다. 이번 간담회는 캐나다 현지 학교에서 교육실습을 앞두고 있는 예비교사들이 실제 교육 현장에 대한 이해를 높이고, 현직 교사들과의 소통을 통해 보다 안정적으로 실습에 참여할 수 있도록 지원하기 위해 마련되었습니다. 간담회에서는 한국과 캐나다의 교육제도 및 학교 문화의 차이에 대한 간략한 설명과 함께, 교실 운영 방식, 학생 참여 중심 수업, 다문화 환경 속에서의 의사소통 방법 등 캐나다 교육 현장의 특징에 대한 다양한 이야기가 오갔습니다. 또한 현직 교사들은 실제 수업 운영 경험을 바탕으로 실습 과정에서 도움이 될 수 있는 현실적인 조언과 팁을 전달하며 학생들의 궁금증에 답하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

To mark the publication of the revised edition of “Becoming a Teacher in Canada 2026,” a seminar titled “Guide to Teacher Certification Transfer in Canada” was held in collaboration with KCWA on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the KCWA Bathurst–Finch office. This seminar was designed for overseas Koreans holding Korean teaching certificates, with a focus on providing practical information on the teacher certification process in Canada. The session aimed to help participants assess their individual circumstances and better understand their potential pathways toward obtaining Canadian teaching qualifications. In addition, the seminar featured the authors of the revised edition of “Becoming a Teacher in Canada 2026” as speakers. Participants had the opportunity to share their real-life challenges and experiences during the preparation process, while also discussing various cases they may encounter when pursuing teacher certification transfer in Canada. The seminar concluded as a meaningful and informative session, helping participants deepen their understanding of the certification system and further clarify their future preparation plans for entering the teaching profession in Canada.

『2026 캐나다에서 교사되기』 개정판 발간을 기념하여 KCWA와 함께 “캐나다 교원자격전환 제도 가이드” 세미나가 2026년 4월 30일(목) KCWA 배더스트 핀치 사무실에서 개최되었습니다. 이번 세미나는 한국 교원자격을 보유한 재재외동포를 대상으로 진행되었으며, 참가자들의 개인 상황에 맞춘 교원 자격 전환 가능성을 점검할 수 있도록 캐나다 교사 자격 취득 과정에 대한 실질적인 정보를 제공하는 데 중점을 두었습니다. 또한 이번 세미나에는『2026 캐나다에서 교사되기』 개정판 집필진이 강사로 참여하였으며, 참가자들은 준비 과정에서 겪는 현실적인 어려움과 경험을 공유하고, 이를 통해 교원자격 전환 과정에서 마주할 수 있는 다양한 사례를 함께 나누는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이번 세미나는 캐나다 교사 진출을 준비하는 참가자들에게 제도에 대한 이해를 높이고 향후 준비 방향을 구체화할 수 있는 유익한 시간으로 마무리되었습니다.
