The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the “AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship.” As an important part of our mission is to nurture researchers, who will contribute to the development and globalization of Korean studies, the academy has organized the “2024 AKS Hanmun (Classical Chinese) Fellowship” for international scholars in Korean studies. Those who are interested in the following programs held by the AKS, which is the global hub sharing Korean studies with the world, are very welcome to apply. 1. Programs: Lectures, recitations, research, and on-site tours (conducted in Korean) 2. Program Period - 10th(Advanced Course) : September 2 – December 19, 2024 3. Venue: The Academy of Korean Studies 4. Eligibility - Undergraduate students, master's and doctoral degree students majoring in Korean Studies at overseas universities (including candidates of master's or doctoral degrees) - Korean nationals and graduates are ineligible for this program. ※ Advanced Korean language skills are required, as the program will be conducted in Korean. ※ Must have completed a basic Hanmun course to take the Advanced Course 5. Required Documents 1) For All Applicants: - Application form (download the attached file) - Certificate of enrollment (or completion) - One letter of reference ※ Written by the applicant's academic adviser as to why the applicant needs knowledge of Chinese characters. - Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) score report (if you have taken) 2) Additional Documents for Applicants of the Advanced Course (Choose one): - A copy of the transcript or certificate that can prove the applicant’s completion of a Hanmun course at his/her university (or from other programs) OR - AKS Hanmun Fellowship Certificate of Completion ※ All documents should be written in Korean or English. If not, attach a Korean or English translation of documents that are notarized. 6. Application Period: Monday, March 18 – Sunday, April 14, 2024 7. □ 주토론토총영사관 캐나다한국교육원(원장: 장지훈)은 지난 3월 9일 토요일에 관내 고등학교 한국어반 학생들을 대상으로 「2024 Korea Day」를 진행하였습니다. ㅇ 캐나다한국교육원에서 주최한 이번 「2024 Korea Day」행사는 토론토 현지 고등학교에 개설되어 운영되고 있는 한국어 학점반 교육 프로그램의 일환으로 진행되었습니다. ※ (’23년) 온타리오 전역 약 550여명의 고등학생들이 한국어반 수업중 □ 이번 행사는 크게 1부 한국어말하기 대회와 2부 장기자랑 순서로 진행되었으며, 한국 유학과 교환학생 프로그램 등을 안내하는 유학설명회도 함께 진행하였습니다. ㅇ 오전에 진행된 1부에서는 총 14명이 참가하여 고등학생 한국어 말하기 대회를 실시했습니다. 비한인부문과 한인부분으로 구분하여 진행된 말하기 대회에서 비한인 부문 12명의 참가자중 8명은 3월 23일 토론토 대학교에서 있을 「2024 제 18회 토론토 한국어 말하기 대회」 고등부 참가 자격을 얻게 되었습니다. 또한, 한인부문 2명은 현장에서 별도 시상을 진행하였습니다. ㅇ 말하기 대회 이후에는 한국어반 학생들을 대상으로 한국유학설명회를 진행하여, 한국과 한국 유학 전반에 관한 소개, 국내 대학과 교환학생 정보 제공 및 2024년도 변경된 Working Holiday 사업 등에 관한 홍보를 진행하였습니다. ㅇ 이어진 2부에서는 총 8개의 학교 44명이 참가한 장기자랑 순서가 있었습니다. 장기자랑이 끝난 후 인기투표를 통해 최대 득표를 한 3개 팀에 인기상을 시상하였습니다. ㅇ 특히, 이번 Korea Day 행사는 처음으로 장기자랑 이후 행사 참가자 누구나 함께 즐길 수 있는 Random Dance Play도 진행하여, 행사에 참여한 많은 학생들이 함께 K-POP을 즐길 수 있는 축제의 시간도 가졌습니다. □ 장지훈 교육원장은 “학생들로부터 한국어와 한국 문화에 관한 관심과 애정을 느낄 수 있었던 시간” 이라고 하며, ㅇ “앞으로도 캐나다한국교육원에서는 한국어를 공부하는 고등학생들이 한국에 관한 긍정적인 경험의 기회를 자주 갖도록 노력해 나가겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

Korean Education Affairs Section at the Korean Consulate in Toronto (Head: Jihoon Jang) held 2024 Korea Day on March 9th for High School Credit Course Students. The first part of the event was the first round of the speech contest for 12 non-Korean divisions and 2 Korean divisions. For top 8 non-Korean participants will move on to the next round for next week's Toronto Korean Speech Contest 2024 on March 23rd at the University of Toronto. Two Korean participants were awarded at the event. The second part of the event was a talent show for 44 students from 8 schools. Korean Education Affairs Section prepared a Korea Day Cup for the most-voted team. After the talent show, the audience voted for their favorite team, and the top 3 teams were awarded.

주토론토총영사관 캐나다한국교육원 (원장: 장지훈)은 3월 9일 토론토학교 (O.I.S.E)에서 2024 Korea Day 행사에 참가한 고등학교 한국어반 학생들을 대상으로 한국유학 설명회 (Study in Korea Info Session)를 개최하였습니다. 본 행사에는 광역 온타리오 지역에서 한국어를 공부하는 학생 약 200 여 명이 참가하여 한국 유학 전반, 교환학생 및 한국 대학의 외국인 특별전형 안내 및 Working Holiday 등 비자 안내 등 유용한 정보를 전달하였고, 2022년에 연세대학교에서 교환학생을 한 Edward Jang 학생의 경험담 공유 등 유익한 시간을 가졌습니다.

주토론토총영사관 캐나다한국교육원 (원장: 장지훈)은 2월 28일 밴쿠버 코퀴틀람에 위치한 Gleneagle 고등학교에서 한국어 수업을 듣는 학생들을 대상으로 한국유학설명회 (Study and Work in Korea Info Session)를 개최하였습니다. 본 행사에는 Gleneagle고등학교에서 한국어 수업을 듣는 고등학생 약 30 여 명이 참가하여 한국 유학 전반, 교환학생 및 한국생활 Tips 등 유용한 정보를 전달하였고, 2022년 연세대학교에서 교환학생 및 한국에서 인턴쉽을 경험한 Edward Jang 학생의 경험담 공유 등 유익한 시간을 가졌습니다.
