2021년 제 78회 한국어능력시험, 10월 16일 시행 - COVID-19 발생 이후 2년 만에 실시 - □ 주토론토총영사관 캐나다한국교육원은 올해 10월 16일 제 78회 한국어능력시험 (이하 TOPIK)을 토론토한인회관(1133 Leslie St, North York)에서 시행한다. □ 그 동안 TOPIK은 토론토 내의 COVID-19 제한으로 2020년 4월부터 올해 4월까지 총 3회의 시험을 시행하지 못하여 응시 희망자들의 불편이 가중되었다. 또한, 기존에 활용하던 대학교 강의실이 COVID-19의 제한으로 여전히 사용이 불가능함에 따라 10월에 예정되었던 TOPIK도 시행이 불투명하였으나 토론토한인회의 장소 제공 협력으로 COVID-19 방역지침을 준수하며 안전하게 시험을 시행할 수 있는 시험장을 확보하게 되었다. □ TOPIK 응시원서는 2021년 7월 29일까지 캐나다한국교육원 홈페이지를 통해 온라인으로 접수할 수 있다. 특히, 올해는 COVID-19 사회적 거리두기 지침을 준수하기 위하여 TOPIK 1과 TOPIK 2의 시험장 수용 인원을 각 최대 40명으로 제한하여 선착순으로 신청을 받을 예정이며 시험에 관한 자세한 문의는 주토론토총영사관 한국교육원(416-920-3809, 교환 242번)으로 연락하면 된다. ※ TOPIK 접수 홈페이지 : https://www.cakec.com/78thtopik □ TOPIK은 한국인 및 외국인, 남녀노소에 관계없이 원하는 사람은 누구나 응시할 수 있고 자신의 한국어능력을 공식적으로 측정해볼 수 있는 시험이다. 이종원 교육원장은 “TOPIK은 국내 초청 프로그램 선정 시 우대, 캐나다 영주권·시민권자의 대학입학 및 장학금 혜택의 필수 조건 등으로 활용하고 있어서 캐나다에 사는 교민 학생들이라면 누구나 응시해 두는 것이 좋다.”고 말한다. □ 한편, TOPIK은 대한민국 교육부 산하 국립국제교육원이 주관하는 시험으로 매년 해외 72개국 218개 시험장에서 시행되고 있다. 토론토에서는 매년 2회(4월, 11월) 시행되었으나, COVID-19이 확산된 이후 2020년(4월, 11월), 2021년 4월 총 3회의 시험이 취소되었고 이번 시험은 2년 만에 시행되는 시험이다.
