2026 KNU Student Teacher Orientation at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto

The Korean Education Affairs Section held an orientation session on May 5 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Toronto for student teachers from Kongju National University who will be participating in the TCDSB teaching practicum program. Dean Jongyeol Yoo of the College of Education at Kongju National University and eight student teachers attended the session, where they shared important information related to their practicum and daily life in Toronto.

During the orientation, guidance was provided to help the student teachers adapt to Toronto and stay safe throughout their practicum period. In particular, Consul Kwango Tak introduced practical information on emergency response procedures and emergency contact systems, helping participants prepare for various situations they may encounter while in Toronto.

Director Jee-eun Lee also introduced the role of the Korean Education Affairs Section as an overseas educational institution and presented its major programs and initiatives. They learned about the efforts in supporting Korean language and culture education, collaborating with local schools, and promoting educational programs for Korean overseas youth.

In addition, the orientation included guidance on the responsibilities and professional conduct expected of student teachers during the practicum, as well as important considerations when working with local schools and related institutions. Through this orientation, the student teachers gained a better understanding of the local educational environment and strengthened their responsibility for the practicum experience.
