The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS-G) offers international students the opportunity to study at higher education institutions in Korea, enhancing global educational exchange and fostering mutual friendship between Korea and participating countries. We are pleased to announce that seven Canadian nationals (six Canadians, one overseas Korean) will be selected to participate in the “2026 Global Korea Scholarship Program for International Students for a Graduate Degree” in Korea. The program includes one year of Korean language training followed by a 4-6 year degree program. The Director of the Korean Education Centre in Canada, Ji-eun Lee, visited the Korean Canadian Women’s Association (KCWA) on Friday, January 30. She held a meeting with KCWA staff, including Executive Director Eun-ju Kim, to discuss the certification of teachers. During the meeting, they engaged in an in-depth discussion on systematic ways to provide accurate information to support those who have obtained teaching qualifications in Korea but face difficulties in utilizing them in Canada, particularly regarding the conversion of Korean teaching credentials to Canadian teaching certification.

캐나다한국교육원 이지은 원장은 지난 1월 30일(금) 캐나다한인여성회(Korean Canadian Women’s Association, KCWA)를 방문하였습니다. 김은주 사무장을 비롯한 KCWA 관계자들과 교원 자격 전환과 관련하여 면담을 진행하였습니다. 이번 면담에서 교원 자격을 취득한 후 캐나다에서 해당 자격 활용에 어려움을 겪는 이들을 지원하기 위해 한국 교원 자격의 캐나다 교원 자격 전환과 관련한 체계적인 정보 제공 방안에 대해 심도 있게 논의하였습니다.

On January 22 (Thursday), the Korean Education Centre in Canada (Director: Lee Ji-eun) held a meeting with a delegation from Jeonju National University of Education. During the meeting, the Centre introduced the current status of Korean language promotion and support systems for Korean heritage schools in Canada, and discussed potential collaboration with Jeonju National University of Education’s student practicum programs, as well as opportunities to expand networks with local Canadian educational institutions and jointly pursue future educational projects.
