2023 Korean Honor Scholarship (KHS) Invitation The Korean Honor Scholarship (KHS) Committee extends an invitation to Korean and Korean-Canadian undergraduate and graduate students to apply for the 2023 Korean Honor Scholarship. This Scholarship was first established in 1981 with a gift of US$1 million from the government of the Republic of Korea to commemorate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and the United States. An additional US$1.9 million has since been added to the fund by the Korean Government, and now the fund totals US$2.9 million. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding students of Korean heritage to encourage high achievement of academic performance and the development of leadership qualities for their future professional careers. The Korean Honor Scholarship Committee has awarded 3,296 scholarships to outstanding Korean and Korean-American and Korean-Canadian students over the past 40 years. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be enrolled in both the 2022 fall and 2023 spring semesters in Canada and must have an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. In addition to academic achievement, the Scholarship Committee also considers applicants' essays, letters of recommendation, awards, honors, performances, and other extracurricular activities when making selections. A total of six scholarships will be awarded in Canada this year.
Important Dates for Applicants: ○ Application period: May 15 (Mon) ~ June 30(Fri), 2023 ○ First round evaluation at regional consular offices: July 3(Mon) ~ July 7(Fri), 2023 ○ Final round evaluation by Central Selection Committee: July 21(Fri) ~ July 26(Wed), 2023 ○ Scholarship Awards to be presented after October 2(Mon), 2023 ○ Amount of Scholarship: US$1,500 per student (six students in total)
