13th TaLK Application Instructions

Teach And Learn In Korea, TaLK

(Please review your eligibility before you apply, at www.talk.go.kr)

The Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) Program invites young, adventurous college students and recent graduates to teach English to elementary school students living in the rural areas of South Korea. Funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the TaLK Program aims to cultivate a strong desire to learn English through the use of innovative and engaging classroom teaching methods designed by the our own program’s participants. While teaching, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the many facets of Korean culture and find time to travel to distinct regions of the Korean peninsula. TaLK is the perfect program for those who hope to become a global leader, who seek to gain personal and professional enrichment through teaching, and who are highly adaptable to new environments.

13th TaLK Scholarship Term

One scholarship term lasts for the duration of either six (6) months or one (1) year. The scholarship may be extended for an additional period.

 6-month scholarship: August 1, 2014-January 31, 2015

 1-year scholarship: August 1, 2014- July 31, 2015

Application Process

1. Apply Online

※ Online Application Deadline: May 30th, 2014

Submit Application A, Application B & a photo On-line at www.talk.go.kr.

2. Preliminary Screening

Korean Education Centre will contact you via e-mail to set up an interview.

(Interview Location: Korean Education Centre at the Korean Consulate General in Toronto)

3. Submission of additional materials

Applicants will be asked to bring their required documents when they come for their initial interview.

※ Checklist of Items Required for a Complete Application

1) SIGNED Hard copy of Application Part A & B

※Application Part A: applicant profile & photo (in JPEG format)

※Application Part B: personal essay & medical self-assessment

2) Lesson Plan

3) Two signed & sealed recommendation letters

4) A sealed official transcript

5) Criminal Record Check (notarized by Korean Consulate General in Toronto- inquiry: 416-920-3809 x230)

※ Must be issued within 6 month

6) A copy of passport photo page

7) A copy of Permanent Residency Certificate (for Korean Nationals)

※ Deadlines for the Submission of required documents:

Phase 1 (March 4th, 2014)

Phase 2 (May 5th, 2014)

Phase 3 (June 6th, 2014)

※ Earlier applicants will have a higher chance to be selected and positions may all be filled before the deadline.

4. Final screening by TaLK Office in Seoul, Korea

※ The final decision is made by the TaLK Office in Seoul,Korea. Although your records may meet the minimum criteria for admission, your application may not be successful if your file is not competitive with the rest of the applicant pool. Korean Education Centre and the TaLK office will not respond to any inquiries regarding unsuccessful applications.
