2026 Meeting KNUStudent Teachers-Toronto Educators

The Korean Education Affairs Section hosted a meeting with eight students from Kongju National University currently participating in a teaching practicum within the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), Dean Jongyeol Yoo of the College of Education at Kongju National University, and three current teachers from TCDSB and TDSB, including Principal Christine Kim.

The meeting was organized to help student teachers gain a deeper understanding of the Canadian educational environment and to support their participation in the practicum through communication with experienced local educators.

During the meeting, participants discussed differences between the Korean and Canadian education systems and school cultures. Various topics related to the Canadian classroom environment were introduced, including classroom management styles, student-centered learning approaches, and effective communication in multicultural settings. The current teachers also shared practical advice and insights based on their own teaching experiences, while answering questions from the student teachers and offering guidance to help them prepare for their practicum experience.
