Course Description
This course is a fast-track introduction to Hangeul for students who are new to the Korean writing system. Students will learn basic greetings, consonants, vowels, combined vowels, and the basic idea of final consonants.
The goal is not full mastery in 8 hours. The goal is to help students build a basic foundation for continued Korean study.
Materials
Instructor-made slides, handouts, speaking prompts, role play activities, and short dialogues
Learning Goals
1. Use basic Korean greetings.
2. Recognize and pronounce the Hangeul letters covered in class.
3. Combine consonants and vowels to read simple syllables.
4. Write basic Hangeul letters with attention to stroke order.
5. Understand the basic role of final consonants.
Class Rules
1. Try to be on time. Arriving a few minutes early helps the class start smoothly.
2. Turning on your camera is encouraged. Students may use a profile photo if needed.
3. Keep your microphone muted when you are not speaking.
4. Enjoy the learning process. Let us have fun and learn together.
5. Most important rule: If you know the word in Korean, try to say it in Korean.
